SEVENOAKS PETTY SESSIONS, ANNUAL LICENSING DAY.
The houses during the past year have been generally well conducted, with
the following exceptions:-
Ale House, No. 6. Samuel Macdonald, of the "King's Head," Bessels
Green,
fined 20s and costs 10s on the 26th July 1889, for having his licensed
premises open for the sale of intoxicating liquors during prohibited
hours, on Sunday, the 14th July, 1889.

EXTENSIONS.
Mr. Whitmore, of the "Crown Inn," Westerham, was granted an extension
for a private ball, and Mr. Patrick, landlord of the "King's Head,"
Bessels Green, an hour's extension for a quarterly meeting in connection
with the Foresters' Club on the 8th March.

George Cheal, of the "Kings Head," Bessels Green, apply for a temporary
transfer to Sydney Lush and this was granted.

INTOXICATING LIQUOR AND BILLIARD LICENSES.
Supt. Fowle's annual report of the various public houses in the
district was read as follows:-
.... Proceedings were instituted against one licensee for permitting
drunkenness, viz., the licensee of the "King's Arms," Bessels Green, Chevening, being convicted
at the Sevenoaks Petty Sessions on the 6th August, 1912. On the same day
the licence was transferred to Mr. Sidney Lush, who has since conducted
the same satisfactorily.

RIVERHEAD. THE LATE MR. FRANCIS.
The death of Mr. John Francis, of 20, London-road, occurred on Sunday
morning, after a long illness. Seventy-eight years of age, he had lived
in Riverhead about 40 years, prior to which he had held the licence of
the "General Wolfe" at Westerham for six years, followed by four years
as licensee of the "King's Head," Bessels Green. After giving up the
"King's Head" he started a cab business at Tubs Hill Station, which he
carried on for many years. He then went into business as a carrier, but
gave up when he broke his leg nine years ago. He had been married for 58
years. He is survived by a widow, four sons and one daughter. The
funeral took place at Riverhead yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. |

CRIB CHAMPION AT 81.
In the final of the Cribbage Tournament at the "King's Head," Bessels
Green, last week, 81-year-old Mr. Jack Steer succeeded in beating Mr. L.
H. Dixon by two games to one. |
Owned by the pub chain Whiting and Hammond the pub was refurbished in the
spring of 2014.
