The pub was named after Westerham local hero General Peter Wolfe after the battle of Quebec 1759 in which the General was killed. It is suggested that before his demise the pub was the "King's Head" and changed name after his death in his honour.

The building is 16th Century Grade two listed and the pub was the tap house for the old Westerham Black Eagle Brewery.

It is deemed to be one of the oldest pubs in Westerham.

Sevenoaks Chronicle and Kentish Advertiser 22 February 1946.

RIVERHEAD. THE LATE MR. FRANCIS.

The death of Mr. John Francis, of 20, London-road, occurred on Sunday morning, after a long illness. Seventy-eight years of age, he had lived in Riverhead about 40 years, prior to which he had held the licence of the "General Wolfe" at Westerham for six years, followed by four years as licensee of the "King's Head," Bessels Green. After giving up the "King's Head" he started a cab business at Tubs Hill Station, which he carried on for many years. He then went into business as a carrier, but gave up when he broke his leg nine years ago. He had been married for 58 years. He is survived by a widow, four sons and one daughter. The funeral took place at Riverhead yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

Certainly open in 2017, but What Pub reported this one closed by 2019.
