Three Compasses

Above photo, date unknown, by Brin Hawkins.

Research shows the road to have been renumbered and that the pub also changed name to the "Arkwright's Wheel," and it is suggested this happened in the 1970s.

Norman Tullett had served in World War 2 and been prisoner of war of the Germans.

From there, I believe it again changed name, this time to "Scruffy Murphy's" and later still to the "Compass" having lost the other two in time. Unfortunately the time of these changes is as yet unknown to me.

Bromley & District Times, Friday 25 June 1897.

Mr. C. W. Giles, from Homesdale Road, will shortly take possession of the "Three Compasses," Widmore Road, when he will be pleased to see his old and new friends after 8. Wednesday, June 30th, 1897.
