The family of John Burles sen. were previously at the "Greyhound" in Blackheath. His son is also called John.

 

From the Borough of Greenwich Free Press, 31 October 1863.

Two brothers name Samuel and Thomas Piper, the first name belonging to Dartford, and the other to Lewisham, were charged, on Monday, with being drunk and breaking two squares of glass, value 3s. 9d., at the "White Hart" public house, Blackheath.

The latter prisoner was further charged with assaulting Thomas Weeks, landlord.

After hearing several witnesses Mr. Traill thought that the whole blame rested on Thomas Piper, whom he ordered to pay a fine of 10s., and the damage; the other to enter into his own recognizes to keep the peace.
