Originally known as the "Kentish Yeoman" and changed name to the "Orson Wells" around 1992, it later changed to the "Black Pig" but I do not know when it changed name.

 

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

Fire at The Black Pig in Grove Hill Road, Tunbridge Wells.

Firefighters were called after a blaze broke out in the ground floor kitchen of a town centre pub this morning.

At 10.25am, two fire engines were needed to put out the flames at The Black Pig in Grove Hill Road in Tunbridge Wells town centre.

A staff member confirmed the pub was closed at the time, so no customers were affected.

Crews used hoses and fire blankets to put out the fire, containing it to the oven.

No one was injured and the cause is not yet known.

 

Some time in 2020 the pub changed name again, this time to the "Claremont."
