High Street

Goudhurst

Situated at the top of the High Street, next to St. Mary's Church and church yard, the property dates to the 15th century when it is believed to have been a monastery building connected to Cromwell Priory. During the 1600's it became a coaching inn  with the name of "Black Spread Eagle."

At some time, unknown in the future it changed name to "Ye Olde Starre and Crowne." I also have reference to it being called the "Star and Crown" in 1806.
