Established by 1740, the frontage was rebuilt in 1929-30. In 1890 the premises was bought by E J Rose and opened as a wine shop with bar. It changed name to "Plaisted's" to honour the licensees in the early 1800s.

 

Reference  from ADM 48/50/82 in the National Archive).

In the will of John Kay who was serving in HMS Hussar in the Royal Navy, dated 25 Feb 1791, he left everything to his friend ‘William Limbery at the Sign of the "Coopers Arms" at Woolwich’.

At present it is not known who William Limbery was. Paul Skelton.
