Hi Paul,

I hope this may be of some use to you regarding the Posthouse. I'm afraid that I have no pictures for you, only memories.

The "Posthouse" then "Ramada" was formerly known as the "Dover Motel." It was jointly owned by Hammonds and Townsend Thoreson, if my memory serves me correctly.. I worked there in 1979 the hotel had only been open about a year and only two wings were operational, the third being added later. The manager then was Mr Peter Parker who had previously worked at the Holiday Inn on Townwall Street.

Regards

Simon Rolfe

There’s so much to see in Kent.

Charming old towns to explore like Sandwich, Hythe and Tenterden; magnificent castles - the imposing fortress in Dover itself. Walmer Castle — traditional home of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, and Chilham in its picture book village setting.

If you get steamed up about railways there s a choice of two — the famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch and the Kent and East Sussex at Tenterden And of course a pilgrimage to the beautiful city of Canterbury is a pleasure not to be missed.
