Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

Isle of Sheppey resident informs me that the "Elm Tree Inn" was previously known as a beer house called the "Greyhound." The premises was enlarged between 1940 and 1960 and this is probably when it was renamed. The name being taken from the amount of Elm trees that once lined the road. Today (2020) the building closed as a pub is more or less condemned but there have been plans to turn what is left into flats.

Further information from Alan Bicknell tells me that the pub was renamed some time during the 1970s. It was then a tied house of Courage and was sold to Les and Rita Wigham on condition that they changed the name. They then sold it to a couple called Val and Arthur surname unknown and it became a steakhouse but by then I think the writing was on the wall. As far as the choice of name that was indeed because of the elm trees which used to grow around it or so Rita once told me.
