In 1869-70 the pub was part of a consortium who were advertising their goods of selling tea in response to grocers' selling beer and wine. (Click for further details.)

 

The 1861 census listed this premises as a haberdashery general shop run by May Young who was 58 years of age in that year, and in 1881 the census described the premises being run by William Todd, age 31 who was a picture frame maker.

 

I have just started to map out the pubs that exist or existed in Gravesend, but need local knowledge and photographs, old and current if you have any.
