KENT COUNTY COURT - MAIDSTONE. INSOLVENTS.

James Leadbetter, formerly of the "Lads of the Village Tavern," the Manor Way, Charlton, licensed victualler and dealer in tobacco, and trading in co-partnership with James Newman, at Hale's Factory, Manor Way, Charlton, under the style or firm of "Newman and Leadbetter," as waterproof fabric manufacturers; and late of the "Ordnance Arms," Woolwich, assistant to Mrs Randall.

Mr. Morgan, supported the insolvent. - Adjourned until the 5th May.

Fearful Suicide at Charlton.

An inquest was held on Saturday, before C. J. Carttar, Esq., at the "Lads of the Village" public house, Charlton, on the body of John Simpson, 33, horse-dealer, 8, West-street, New Charlton, who was found by P.C. Pratt, 126 R, at 4 o'clock in the morning of the preceding day, suspended from a gatepost near his house. Dr. Stuart was immediately sent for; but life was found extinct. The jury returned a verdict of "Suicide whilst labouring under temporary insanity," an unhappy married life being attributed us the cause of the rash act.

 

 

 

Changed name to the "Thames Barrier Arms" in 1982.
