Above sign left circa 1950s, kindly sent by Robert Greenham who says:- This Sign was hanging high up at Whitbread's Beltring Hop Farm (and which, I was told, was subsequently bought by an American). Sign right, October 1991.

Above aluminium card issued 1950. Sign series 2 number 8.

The Licensing Records of 1872 stated the premises held a Beer License and was owned by Mary Ann Bassett of Aylesford.

I am told that the pub closed, date unknown and is now in residential use.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

Conviction of Publicans and Beerhouse Keepers.

At the Chatham Police Court, on Monday, the following publicans and beerhouse keepers were convicted in various penalties and costs for having their houses open for the sale of liquors at illegal hours, between three and five on Sunday afternoon.

Samuel Rose, “Rose and Crown” beer-house, High-street, fined 10s. and 10s. costs.
