Identified as a beerhouse in the 1851 census and addressed at Chatham Hill, it is suggested that this later became the "Boatswain and Call."

South Eastern Gazette, 18 September, 1860.

Inquest.

An inquest was held on Tuesday last, before T. Hills, the coroner, at the "South Foreland," Chatham, on the body of William Thomas Bissell, aged two years, the son of a labouring man, who was accidentally drowned by falling into a water tank. There was no evidence adduced to satisfy the jury as to how the deceased fell into the tank; and a verdict of "Accidentally drowned" was returned.
