29 High Street Erith
I am also informed by Jim Packer author of the "Lost Pubs of Bexley" that there is a Woodhams listed as plot 729 in the Tithe. This building was demolished and its replacement became, several years later, the "Coach and Horses." Thomas Wiggins, was listed as a bricklayer in the 1841 Census, in 1851 he was recorded as a cabman and his 18-year-old son (also Thomas), an agricultural labourer. Thomas senior had started the pub by 1859 and his son had taken over the cab business. Thomas junior took over the pub in 1882 and later directories describe him as Beer Retailer and Fly proprietor. They were one of the few local landlords to issue pub tokens, denominations of 1d and 4d being discovered so far. The pub was declared redundant and closed in December 1912. Further information tells me that alterations were made to the premises in 1913.
