Originally known as the "Six Bells" this changed name by 1869. However, the original building was demolished and the one standing there today was built in 1882 by the Kidd's Brewery of which the house was tied.

The pub sadly closed on the 28th of December 1908 after trade dropped off and the magistrates declared it redundant.
