Found as early as 1851 and up to 1911. The research continues.

Mr. Russell applied for Mr. Chilmaid, "Rose and Crown," Sutton-at-Hone, Refused.

LICENSING.

On the application of Mr Ridley a transfer of the licence of the "Rose and Crown Inn," Sutton-at-Hone, was granted to Mr Amos Bates, he having taken the house in succession to Frederick Sandham.

 

Richard & Harriet Thomas' headstone

Above photo, showing the headstone for Richard and Harriet Thomas dated 1891. Local historian Jules Phillips says the following:- The headstone is situated in St. Johns and was recently cleared of all brambles that had hidden it away in 2023. Richard was from Wilmington, Harriet was baptised at St. Mary's Church, Horton Kirby, and they were both married in Bexlyheath. Richard, originally a blacksmith became the licensee of the "Rose and Crown," now a privately own hose opposite the Sutton Library. Harriet passed away in 1895.
