I have also found a "Steam Engine" in the nearby town of Frindsbury, however the licensee was a James William Shrubb from 1930 to 1938.

The Wateringbury History Society have also noted that in 1917: Messrs. Leney & Sons, brewers of Wateringbury, Kent, were fined £100 and £10. 10s. costs for excessive brewing.

When the license for this pub had been surrendered it was transferred to the "Spyglass and Kettle" in Wigmore. The Kettle being in reference to, this pub, The other pub whose license had also been surrendered was the "Lord Nelson," the Spyglass referencing him.

The deferred licensing transfer sessions were held at the Town Hall on Friday, before Messes. W. J. Barnes, W. B Brett, S. J. Livings, W. L. Law, C. W. Chitty, Mrs. Binge and Miss Elnor.

The "Greyhound," Union Row, from Robert L. Hartley, to Bertram Forster, late of the "Steam Engine Inn," Gillingham, Kent;.....
