Walnut Tree, Halling.
SOVEREIGN UNEARTHED WHILE EARTHING POTATOES.
Mr. H Fenner, of Messrs. Style & Winch's off-licence, the "Walnut
Tree," Halling, Kent, was earthing potatoes and turned
up a coin. This he at first took to be a halfpenny but a second
inspection proved it to be a golden sovereign dated 1900.
We wonder what story it could tell?
