I haven't seen reference to this pub to date, but have been informed that an assault was reported in the South Eastern Gazette of 21 August 1876 which took place at the "Railway Guard Inn" in Week Street, Maidstone. Another reference being for 1882, "Railway Guard," 120 Week St, Maidstone, James Godfrey, presumably the landlord at the time.

The census of 1881 gave this the name of the "Railway Goods Inn."

The hotel also had a tap room addressed at 1 County Road.

Further research tell me this used to be the "Compasses" but closed at the end of the 1800s.
