Hole in the Roof in Deal reopens as Queen Street Tap
The eagerly anticipated reopening of a popular pub takes place
tonight.
The "Hole in the Roof" in
Deal closed in July has had a £500,000 revamp and will open as the
"Queen Street Tap."
It will host 14 craft beers, 17 different types of gin and a sports
and music line-up featuring acoustic acts and jazz artists through to
late night dance tunes.
New owners, Stonegate Pub Company, say it is welcoming the seaside
pub to its quirky portfolio.
The takeover will bring 25 new jobs and retain the jobs of former
staff.
Pub manager Andy Moore, said: "It’s been a crazy few weeks and local
interest has been amazing.
"The renovation is astounding – an urban, artisan feel with all the
facilities to make us the home for sports, al fresco dining, relaxation
or party, and music.
"The investment is great for Deal with a positive contribution to the
local economy that we hope will benefit other businesses.
"The return to live and local music, comedy and jazz with a food and
drink offer aimed at a wide customer base is destined to create a real
feel good factor locally."
The pub will offer a food menu from Sicilian inspired pizzas; British
and Mediterranean tapas from beef and horseradish bites to Iberico ham
croqetas, sticky wings and nachos.
Before closing as the "Hole
in the Roof," the pub was issued with a noise abatement notice in
November 2016.
It followed complaints from residents about noise in the pub dating
back to 2014. |
