South Street Deal
Mentioned in Steve Glover and Michael Rogers book The Old Pubs of Deal and Walmer. This premises held a wine license which was granted on 4 April 1876 and the name describes its function as a skating rink in September 1877. About 1900 it changed name for a short time to "Alcazar" for some reason. The Deal Council bought the "Rink" including hotel, shop and stabling for £6,000 off Thompson's Brewery in June 1906, and later by 1922 the "Walmer Castle," which was situated next door, took over the premises.
