I have only seen the one instance of this pub at present when the licensee, Herbert Ashby applied for an extension of time in December 1936. I have also seen this addressed as Orpington. An advert in the Bromley and District Times, 2 February 1894 advertised this as "A Snug little House of Call on the road to the famous Knockholt Beeches, from which it is a mile." I do know of another "Royal Oak" in Shoreham. I am informed that the pub changed name to the "Tally Ho" in February 1975.
