Jim Packer tells me that this pub was listed as a beershop in the rate books of 1864, but that by 1871 it had changed name to the "Woodman." Reference has been found for this pub in a newspaper of 27 February 1865 where it was referred to as the "Cherry Garden" and also in a Rates paper of 15 July 1865 where it was called the "Cherry Tree."
