This pub has been mentioned in the Sittingbourne, Milton & District Directory of 1908-09, which included Rainham.

The census of 1871 mentions that William Kitchener was an agricultural labourer age 30 but that George Styles was the licensee and Beer Retailer age 57 in that year.
