PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

1 Sept 1973

(Name from)

Golden Nugget Saloon

1 Sept 1973

(Name to)

87 High Street

Farnborough

A strange one this, that lasted under that name for no more than one day.

Previously known as the "New Inn" the name changed on the 1st September 1973. The inn keeper who was Sid Batt, was granted a special license and the inn was named the "Golden Nugget Saloon" and the license was granted from 10.30 a.m. till 5 p.m. to co-inside with the annual Farnborough Fair, which on that day had adopted a Wild West theme.

After closing for half an hour at 5 o'clock, at 5.30 the pub was again renamed the "Change of Horses" and I believe this is the only pub that can boast as having three official names in one day.
