Above postcard, circa 1909, kindly sent by Rory Kehoe. Prior to 1865, the pub had been a tied house, within the estate of William Fleet's Brewery, Dartford. In that year, William Fleet placed his brewery (along with its 40 tied houses) on the market and it was purchased by a local competitor, Miller & Aldworth's Brewery, which had, earlier that same year, acquired J & W Tasker's Dartford Brewery. Some 30 years later, Miller & Aldworth was renamed and thereafter traded as the Dartford Brewery Company.
