This was mentioned in a book called the "History of Strood" by Henry Smetham, published 1899, and indicates that a pub with this name used to be located at Stonehorse (Cliffe) Lane, unfortunately no further details were given.

I also have reference to a "Prince of Wales" addressed at Canal Road, and another "Prince of Wales" addressed as in the High Street. I do not know whether there is any connection between any of them.
