Hancock's American Restaurant and Bar opening at Pier 5, Chatham Maritime.

Serving ribs, steaks, chicken, pizzas, burgers and hot dogs, a new American-style restaurant is coming to Medway.

Hancock’s American Restaurant and Bar is due to open at Pier 5, Chatham Maritime at the start of May and will create 25 jobs, including management roles.

As well as food, it will also serve a range of cocktails and American craft beers.

Co-founder, David Chick, said: “Hancock’s is excited to announce that we are bringing our concept to such a great location giving people the chance to enjoy our great American meals in new surroundings overlooking the water.”

He said the 500,000 restaurant will be modern and dramatic in design and will use the latest technology to enhance customers experience.

Hancock’s is the latest business to move into the development at Chatham Maritime, leaving only a few units vacant.

Already in place are Flip Out trampoline centre and TruGym, as well as Starbucks, Zippers, Creams, Burger Priest and Wok&Go.

Also set to open later this year is a Shepherd Neame pub and a planning application has been submitted for a tanning salon.

Pier Five Bar and Kitchen opens at Chatham Maritime.

Shepherd Neame has opened a bar and restaurant with an outside terrace, overlooking Chatham’s marina.

Pier Five Bar and Kitchen opened last Friday on the far end of the pier at Chatham Maritime - just minutes away from their other premises, the Ship and Trades.

The contemporary bar serves handcrafted beers and lagers, craft spirits and cocktails.

The kitchen serves gourmet burgers, superfood salads, flame-grilled chicken and oven-baked pizzas.

Brunch is served from Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 2pm and ranges from the traditional full English to modern dishes including avocado on toasted sourdough and eggs Florentine bagel.

Pier Five will be open from noon-late Monday to Friday, 9am-late Thursday to Saturday and 9am-10.30pm on Sundays.

8 Shepherd Neame pubs in Kent have been recognised in the brewery's annual awards.

The Faversham brewery has held its annual awards - and plenty of pubs in Kent cleaned up at the special ceremony.

Shepherd Neame has announced the winners of its annual pub awards, with eight of its 322 pubs and hotels across London and the South East taking home prizes.

The awards were announced in a ceremony at the Conningbrook Hotel, Ashford on Tuesday, June 19 and honour pubs from all over the county, from Dover to Canterbury.

Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame said: “This has been a year of record investment in our pub estate, as we aim to attract our customers through great design, to excite them with a superb offer and to retain them by providing a memorable experience.

“These awards are aimed at recognising the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our licensees, managers and staff, and celebrating excellence in our industry.”

Lauren Weight of Pier Five in Chatham was named Manager of the Year. Pier Five in Chatham is a stylish bar and kitchen which opened last year on the far end of the pier at Chatham Maritime.

It offers an extensive range of beers and a contemporary menu including flamegrilled chicken, dirty burgers, hand-stretched freshly made pizzas and superfood salads.

Judges praised Lauren for rising to the challenge of managing a new site and team, working hard to develop skills and standards and to maintain them.

They also praised her for controlling costs and marketing the business to establish it as one of the most successful on the pier.
