18 High Street Woolwich
As far as I am aware the "Carpenter's Arms" was addressed at 18 High Street before and after 1901, yet the 1901 census says in brackets "Red House Tavern" where George A Plume age 42 was described as a Cartage Contractor and Licensed Victualler, along with his wife Matilda Plume age 43, they had 6 children, also one Barman and a Domestic Servant were living there. These are the same people as mentioned at the "Carpenter's Arms." So, I suggest that perhaps the pub had two names, one official and the other local. Or, did it for a short time change names? Hopefully more information will come to light regarding it under this name.
