This one has changed name on many occasions, previously known as "Mascots" which was closed  by 2018 and was destined to be demolished for redevelopment in the same year. However, after being closed for some years the plan was denied at a council meeting on May 31 2018, and a new plan devised in 2021 to open as a pub again in July 2021.

The pub finally opened on 13 August 2021 and closed again 26th April 2026, but operating as a restaurant with a new name, and if you want a drink you'll have to order food as well.

From their web site accessed 4 May 2026.

A fond farewell to The Artful Duke, but this isn't goodbye...

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce The Artful Duke will be closing its doors on Sunday, 26th April, after being part of the Livelyhood family since 2021.

Over the years, The Artful Duke has been more than just a pub, it’s been a place for great food, good times, and many shared memories. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of its story and supported us along the way.

This isn’t goodbye for long. We’re excited to share that we’ll be reopening on Friday, 1st May with a new partnership and a fresh new restaurant concept called Saucy Bird.

The team you know and love isn’t going anywhere, you’ll still be welcomed by the same familiar faces ready to look after you.

At Saucy Bird, we’ll be delivering delicious rotisserie chicken, cooked with care and packed full of flavour. It will be served alongside a range of bold, house-made sauces, created to bring something exciting and different to every plate.

We can’t wait to welcome you back and share what’s next.

Thank you for your continued support and if you’re nearby this week, pop in and say hello before we close the doors at the Duke for a final time.
