This premises started out as a Wine Merchants called "George Pamphon," and can be traced back to 1775 and very likely earlier. Next I believe it went under the name of "TPs" which I think was either a nightclub or Sports bar. Local knowledge needed here thanks.

Mascots Sports Bar in Bromley High Street could become new restaurant/pub.

A vacant 19th-century building in Bromley High Street, which was last used as a sports bar, could be set for a major development.

An application has been submitted to transform the site into a restaurant/pub, office space and homes.

To the rear of the building, located at 196-198 Bromley High Street, the construction of a gym and fitness studio is also proposed.

The building, which dates back to 1876, was used as homes in the 20th century, before being turned into a pub in the 1990s.

"Mascots" Sports Bar was the last pub to operate from the site.

It is now proposed that the ground floor will be used as a pub/restaurant, the first floor as offices and the second and third floor as flats.

If Bromley Council accepts the application by Webb Architects Limited, a single-storey building at the back will be demolished to construct a two-storey gym and fitness studio. The rear stable block would be retained.

In 2008 the premises served as an Australian bar called "Walkabout."

In 2012 the building served as a sports bar called "TP's."

In a statement, Webb Architects Limited said: "As a designated Opportunity Area within the London Plan, development in Bromley Town Centre is encouraged to promote new cultural, leisure and residential development, and development proposals should contain a mix of uses where appropriate.

"In addition, the application site sits within Bromley North Village, where the Local Plan allows for the conversion of upper floors to residential, office or other appropriate uses which will enhance the vitality of the area and improve its appearance.

"The London Plan seeks to ensure that growth in Opportunity Areas ensures a vibrant day and night time centre."

"Mascots" sports bar in Bromley High Street to be new pub and flats.

A former sports bar in Bromley is to get a new lease of life as plans for a pub and flats are set to be given the green light.

Developers want to renovate what was "Mascots" Sports Bar in Bromley High Street into a pub/restaurant, and include an office and three flats above it.

The building, which is currently empty, would also have a two-storey gym and fitness studio built behind it.

Mascots plans

The plans, submitted by, Webb Architects Limited, are set to be given approval by councillors at a meeting next week, but not everybody is in favour of the scheme.

According to consultation responses, the proposed gym would be “visually harmful” to a nearby listed building – the "Partridge" pub – and would be “inappropriate to its historic design”.

However, planning officers at Bromley Council said: “Taking into account the issues discussed above it is considered that the development proposed would have a high quality design and would not have an unacceptable impact on the amenity of neighbouring occupiers.

“It is considered that the development would not be detrimental to the character and appearance of the conservation area.”

The building, which dates back to 1876, was used as homes in the 20th century, before being turned into a pub in the 1990s.

In 2008 the premises served as an Australian bar called "Walkabout," but the boozer has had a few different makeovers since then.

In 2012 the building served as a sports bar called "TP’s," and then it changed briefly again in 2015 before becoming "Mascots" a year later.

The scheme is set to be approved subject to conditions at a meeting on May 31.

The above plan of redevelopment never occurred and on 13th August 2021 it opened as the "Artful Duke."
