I have seen reference suggesting that the "George" changed name to the "Three Mariners" and then onto the "Duke of Cumberland" before eventually becoming the "Duke's Head" by 1802.

However, at present I haven't seen any reference to a pub in this area going under the name of the "Three Mariners" at all yet myself. Although I have found reference to one addressed at Lydd dated 1759, although they are about 10 miles apart.
