1 St Germain's Road Forest Hill
According to legend, on the 1st May 1602, Elizabeth I picnicked with Sir Richard Bulkeley of Beaumaris in the Lewisham area by an oak tree at the summit of a hill. The tree came to be known as the Oak of Honor and the area was named Honor Oak and is just outside of Forest Hill. The "St Germains Tavern" opened in 1865 and changed name to the "Honor Oak" as yet date unknown.
