12 Northgate Street Canterbury
The census of 1881 shows William Watson, licensed victualler aged 67 living in this premises and he was still there the following year. No other information has yet come to light. The notes attached to the document "Poems of Canterbury" sated that the pub changed name to the "Blacksmith's Arms" about 1878. Although the census of 1881 says it was still the "British Flag" in that year. I am informed that there was an entrance to the Kingsmead Road.
