Cock Inn
Originally thought to have been the "Cock" at Halstead and sent by Rory Kehoe who says the following:- With additional images (sent to you last week) and more background information, it's clear that this is not the Halstead "Cock" The Halstead "Cock" was not a Style & Winch pub: it was a Westerham Brewery house, which would have then become Ind, Coope in the 1960s. I've been through all the Cock Inns on the KPH site and none appear to match the 1916 image. I suppose the mystery pub could have been just over the border in Sussex but in 1916 Style & Winch was pretty much the an exclusively mid-Kent and Medway company. Information received from Martin Archer suggests that this could be the "Cock" in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, and looking at current photos of it, I would say he is correct, so case solved again. ![]() Above photo, circa 2024.
