Unknown pub, Deal or Walmer area.

Above photo suggested as being circa 1870-80s.

Peter Bamford of the Folkestone History Society has kindly sent me the photo above and says the following:- "Please find attached a small photo (carte de visite) ("visit card") which came from an old album containing manly portrait photos all from the Walmer / Deal area.

The notice in the window says “India Ales” so I assume it could be outside a local public house not a lot to go on but if it is of any use to you please feel free to use.

Michael Mirams, as usual has come up trumps again. Although not conclusive, he says that the doorway is identical to the former "Hope" in Middle Street.
