According to research done by Glover and Rogers in their book "The Old Pubs of Deal and Walmer" the "Gun Inn" was licensed under that name in 1721, although the building dates back to 1502. At the time the address would have been Gun Lane. The pub changed name to the "Bowling Green Tavern" some time before 1847.
