Above photo by Paul Hensman circa 1915. Name above the door says H Rickwood, who is probably the person in the photograph.

Owned and supplied by Thompson & Sons. Previous to 1896 it was named the "Clarendon Tap," and addressed situated on the corner of Short Lane.

Often referred to as just the "Victory" "The Old Victory" and even "Ye Old Victory" but not to be confused with the "Victoria."

The above premises was unfortunately bombed and demolished in 1940. The photograph below is of the area, but I am unsure exactly which part of it was the public house. The area is now a car-park for local residents.

From the Deal, Walmer, and Sandwich Mercury, 22 December, 1900. COMMITTED FOR STEALING A MOP Mr. Charles Scovell, of "Ye Old Victory," was granted an extension till 12.30 for a supper party on New Year's Eve, to see the new century in.

From an email received, 15 August, 2012. Patrick Harris kindly sent me this picture saying it was taken in about 1931 and shows his father Albert and a friend standing outside the public house, which incidentally had the name "Ye Olde Victory."
