1 Brewer Street

Above photo, kindly sent by Patricia Streater, 23 January 2010, shows 1 Brewer Street today, which I believe used to be the "Star" and is now called The Paragon, but unfortunately no longer a public house.

In 1895 the premises was addressed as number 164. Kelly's Directory 1899 gives the address as 80 Middle Street and describes the premises as "Paragon Public House and Music Hall."

This house was formerly the "Star" and was renamed in 1873.

The Deal Licensing Register of 1901 refer to this building as:- "Empire - late "Paragon" (Dancing, singing and music.)"
