Picture believed to have been taken in circa 1910.

A note on the reverse of the pic says "Glad to think you got on all right but sorry to know Will was bad. What do you think of the Boys of the Old Brigade? Pick us out if you can but you had better left your G* at home. Tommy" (*illegible.)

I am not at present intending on doing comprehensive research into the Whitstable area as yet, but during my research I have found reference to this pub, so have included it here.

At present, all I have time to include are photographs, trawled from the internet, if found, so apologies for the quality in some cases, and for the fact that these are not my own. But this is better than nothing at present.

As time allows and I find or are sent further information or pictures regarding this pub I will be adding further information to this page. I am certainly interested in any old photographs you may have, or information regarding licensees names and years of service.

If anything is incorrect on these pages, please let me know. Your help is appreciated.

From an email received, 31 December 2022.

Ann Camburn is related two different ways to my husband. Her maiden name was Newing. Also Charles Carlton and Emma was his wife. Her maiden name was Carden and she was related to Edward Carden who ran the "Fisherman's Arms." Also, Leonard Perkins who also ran the "Forrester's Arms" was related to Edwin Griffiths who ran the "Guinea" via his mother Adelaide who was his niece. His wife Mabel Foreman was also distantly related to Walter Foreman of the "Duke of Cumberland."

It's a small world!

Keep up the good work!

Allison Dilnutt.
