A pub called the "Half Way House" is listed as being in or near to the Vauxhall Gardens in 1769, but no other reference has come to light for this pub to date.

In 1934 the building on this site was rebuilt to become the "Vauxhall Tavern." However, I have been able to trace licensees of the "Vauxhall Tavern" back to 1862, so assume there was a building here before this one, and I am assuming it is the "Half Way House."
