From an email received, 27 July 2014.

Hello there,

Have researching my family history and this particular pub was found among the records. It would appear my 9th great grandfather, one John Moverly owned the property on which the Red Lion stood and let it to Valentine Stone who was the licensee in 1740. The pub was bequeathed to John's daughter Anne in 1724.]

A copy of the Moverly will was found in the Kent, England, Tyler Index to Wills, 1460-1882 for John Moverly.

Cheers, Sue Polak.
