Traced back to 1861 as an alehouse so far, this pub changed name to the "Pier Hotel" in 1871 and again in 1987 to the name we know it as today, "Dunkerleys".

The date on the current building says 1926.

However, the Sandwich Borough Records shows Licensed Victuallers who paid for new Inn signs, 6s. 8d, and Sureties of £5 on 12th September, 1662. Unfortunately, no address was given with the above information, but I am assuming the current building was on the same site, and I believe at the time was called the "Fairfax." Perhaps also known as the "Sandwich Hoy," but further research suggests possibly not due to the dates other houses are definitely known as operating.

1861 the premises was licensed as an alehouse, which was formerly a beerhouse. Deal Licensing Register

Going back even further, I believe the premises was called the "Fairfax." I don't know whether it was the same building, but it was certainly in the same position.
