14-15 Beer Cart Lane

Canterbury

Built on the site of the Rigden's Brewery, I have managed to trace the pub to about 1985 after it bought what used to be Dom Medi's restaurant. The pub was reputed to be Canterbury's first "fun pub" and was at the time owned by Shepherd Neame. It closed in 1995 having lasted about 10 years.

Further information says it used to be run by David Chalk who also use to own "Images" nightclub in Dover. It had a main bar downstairs and a smaller bar upstairs. It was never a nightclub as because it was within the walls of the Canterbury City the council would not grant a dancing license.

After closing under this name it reopened as "O'Neills."
