Original Wheatsheaf

Original Wheatsheaf addressed as Goldstone and also known as "The Forty Thieves" demolished in 1925.

 

The original "Wheatsheaf" was sadly demolished by then owners Messrs. Gardner & Co Ltd. in 1925. It was also referred to as "The Forty Thieves" for some reason. The new building was erected on the same spot.

The licence of the "Wheatsheaf," Ash, was transferred from Mr. W. H. Edwards to Mr. G. Doughty.

 

From an email received 24 July, 2014.

My mother Margaret Holmes took over as licensee of the "Malvern Inn" Dover when my father Leonard died.

She later married my step father Major John Brown and they became licensees of The "Wheatsheaf Inn" in Cop Street Ash.
