Latest 1953

Harmer Street

Gravesend

Starting life as the "Institute Shades" in 1846, the pub changed name some time between that year and 1920 to the "Grand Bars" and operating under that guise till about 1953. In that year the pub was rebuilt in the, replacing the demolished "Assembly Rooms" pub when it again changed names to the "Call Boy," it remained with that name till 2010 when it was renamed "Bar Liquorice" for two years. 2012 saw its latest change to "Angels."

Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just started to map out the pubs that exist or existed in Gravesend, but need local knowledge and photographs, old and current if you have any.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation. Every email is answered and all information referenced to the supplier.

This page will be updated as soon as further information is found.
