HERNE. — DRUNK.

Stanley Punton, a plasterer, who did not appear, was charged with being drunk in the highway. Instructing-constable Page, of Herne Bay, said that when he served the summons defendant was half drunk. At five o'clock on June 26 witness was called by the landlord of the "Hall-by-the-Sea" to eject defendant, who was drunk. Defendant left the place, but returned, half-on-hour afterwards he was seen in a public-house, and the landlady refused to serve him. The landlord of the "Hall-by-the-Sea" complained that defendant had been fighting in his presence. Superintendent Wood proved the previous convictions; and the Bench sentenced defendant to 14 days’ hard labour.
