KENT. VERY VALUABLE FREEHOLD AND LEASEHOLD PROPERTY FOR SALE.
Tenterden, Wittersham, Halden, Woodchurch, Lydd, Old Romney, Frittenden,
Biddenden, and Goudhurst;
CONSISTING OF AN EXCELLENT BREWERY, AND SEVERAL TAVERNS, ALEHOUSES,
LAND, etc.
Late the Property of Samuel Shepherd, Esq. deceased, and by his Will
directed to be sold.
TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, By Mr. BENJAMIN HATCH,
At the
"Saracen's Head Inn," in Ashford, on Tuesday, the 1st day of
November, 1842, at Four for Five o'clock precisely in the afternoon,
LOT 1. - A most substantial and well-fitted Brewery, with convenient
Storehouses, Stabling for ten horses, commodious Lofts over the same,
Brewer's House, one other House adjoining, with Five Cottages, and a
Shed contiguous, in the best part of the Town of Tenterden, whereon the
business of a Brewer has been several years carried on by the deceased,
and is now continued by his Sons.
Lot 2. - The "Ewe and Lamb" Public
House, with Stables, Coach-house, and
other Out-buildings, and Two Acres of Arable Land, at Wittersham, and in
the occupation of Thomas Drewery.
Lot 3. - Two Cottages, adjoining or near the last Lot, in the occupation
of Messrs. Holdstock and Highwood. Plant, etc., to be taken by valuation
in the usual manner.
Lot 4. - The "Crown" Public House, with the Stable, Out-buildings, and Two
Cottages adjoining, at Boar's Isle, near Tenterden, in the occupation of
Mr. George Bishop and others.
Lot 5. - The "Chequer's" Public House, with the Garden, Stable, Out -
buildings, and Land appertaining, at Halden, in the Occupation of Mr.
John Day.
Lot. 6. - The "Bonny Cravat" Public House, with Garden, Stables,
Outbuildings, and (2A, 3R, 0P ???? ) of Pastureland, at Woodchurch, in
the occupation of Mr. Gabriel Law.
Lot 7. The "George Inn," with the Garden, Stables, and Out-buildings, in
the Town of Lydd in the occupation of Mr. Hutchingson.
Lot 8. The "Dolphin Inn," with the Garden, Stables, and Out- buildings, at Lydd aforesaid, in the occupation of Mr. Blacklocks.
Lot 9. - The
"Bell" Public House, with Garden, Stable, and Out-buildings,
at Frittenden, in the occupation of Mr. - Busbridge.
Lot 10. A well-accustomed
Beer Shop, with Garden, Stable, Out-buildings,
and about Two Acres of Pasture Land adjoining, at Biddenden, in the
occupation of Mr. Richard Body.
The above-mentioned Estates are all Freehold.
Lot 11. The "Rose and Crown" Public House, with the Garden and Land
therewith used and thereto appertaining, at Old Romney, in the
occupation of Mr, Grist, held for an unexpired term of 1000 years,
granted 14th April, 1806, for securing £400 and Interest at £5 per
Cent., and charged with a further Sum of £226 with Interest at £5 per
Cent., by Indenture dated 6th April, 1818, and which principal Sums,
with a large arrear of Interest, are now due thereon.
Lot 12. - The "Star and Crown Inn," with the Yard, Garden, Out-buildings,
and several pieces of Meadow or Pasture and Wood Land adjoining or near
and used therewith, containing about - (nothing shown) Acres, at Goudhurst, in the occupation of Richard Austen, held under Lease from
the Dean and Chapter of Rochester for a term of 21 years, of which 16
years were unexpired at Lady-day, 1842, renewable in the usual manner at
the reserved Rent of 18s, 9d., and £3 10s for Redeemed Land Tax.
The whole of this compact Property, under the peremptory directions of
the Will for Sale, forms a most desirable Investment for a Brewer or
other Capitalist.
