From the Deal, Walmer and Sandwich Mercury, 28th

COUNTY PETTY SESSIONS
Held at Dover on the 19th inst., before Mr. J. H. Monins (in the chair),
Col. Cavenagh, Major Banks, Messrs. M. Pickett, C. J. Burgess, E. Bradley,
Chandler, and A. Matthews.
Supt. Barton's annual report showed that in the Wingham Division
there were 52 ale houses, 35 beer houses, and four grocers and others,
licensed. On the ground of redundancy the following houses were closed
during the year: "Marquis of Granby" and "Good Intent," Ash; "Leather
Bottle" Shepherdswell; and "Star" Tilmanstone. Proceedings for drunkenness
were taken against one male resident, and three male and one female non
residents, four being convicted, a decrease of one compared with the
previous year. All licenses were renewed.
