Originally as early as 1692 it went under the name of "Morocco," and was still listed under that name the following year as an inn for Billeting 2 soldiers.

Some time after that date it changed name to this one the  "Angel's Castle," and then even later the "Angel and Castle," although it is unknown when that change came about.

Today (2012) it is now known as the "City Arms" and achieved that name some time in the latter half of the 19th century.
